Harbin gives 'generous support' to Martinez-Evans Little League

I am writing as a parent of a member of Martinez-Evans Little League (MELL) and as a resident of Columbia County to acknowledge the generous support state Rep. Ben Harbin has shown to this organization and the local community.

During the past several years, I have personally witnessed Harbin's generosity to the league. MELL is a local nonprofit organization affiliated with Little League International that provides approximately 800 youths in Columbia County with the opportunity to play baseball. Harbin has provided financial support for MELL through community grants from the state of Georgia and his own personal contributions.

For the past several years, he has been responsible for nearly $50,000 in support to help MELL improve its facilities. As a member of the governing board of MELL, I have firsthand knowledge of the financial constraints MELL faces each year and understand the importance of his generosity to the league.

For all his assistance, Harbin has never requested any recognition for his support of the league. I'm sure he has also selflessly provided assistance to other organizations and projects in Columbia County, and to my knowledge has never requested recognition for this support.
