Students at Shock Dance Academy will end their first year at the studio with a summer recital.

The Martinez studio's students will perform Saturday at Jabez S. Hardin Performing Arts Center.
The recital will begin at 2 p.m. and is expected to end about 5:30 p.m.
"Our theme is 'Friends, Family and Love,' " said studio owner Rhonda Brown, "and all of our dancers will be corresponding with that except for the competition kids, who will be doing their competition performances that they've done throughout the year at competitions we've (been) to."
Brown said she opened the dance studio in August to provide children in the area with an opportunity to pursue their dancing careers.
The recital will include performances of tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and pointe dance, clogging and ballet.
Songs including Madonna's Material Girl and Prince's Thieves in the Temple will accompany each act.
"I think they'll be very well-entertained," Brown said about the audience.
The recital incorporates all 65 students at the dance studio.
The recital also will involve a wide range of skill levels.
In addition to the competition dancers, Brown said, dancers as young as 3 will perform.
Tickets for the recital cost $12.50 for adults and $5.50 for children. Seating is reserved, and tickets can be purchased at the door or at Shock Dance Academy at 3905 Roberts Road off Washington Road.
