Voter deadline

Summer program

The Columbia County Foundation for Children is holding a summer community service program for high school students willing to complete a minimum of 10 hours from June 3-Aug. 8. Volunteers will assist at the Foundation Resource Center at 6347 Columbia Road in Appling.

Oratory contest

The annual Marion and Lucille Paschall Scholarship Oratorical Contest for high school students, sponsored by the Evita A. Paschall Foundation, will be held at 10 a.m. June 1 at Springfield Baptist Church, 523 Martin Luther King St., in Thomson. For information, call (706) 724-8562.

Speech screenings will be held today at University Evans Campus, Professional Center 2, 4321 University Parkway, Suite 102, Evans. Screenings are free, but appointments are required by calling (706) 854-2630.

Church concert

Philadelphia United Methodist Church will hold a concert at 5 p.m. and a dinner concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, featuring Allen Connor from Philadelphia UMC, Edie Sweatman from Harlem Baptist Church and Pam Tankersley from Kiokee Baptist Church.

Free legal help

Georgia Legal Services Program staff will provide senior citizens age 60 and older with free, noncriminal legal advice on a first-come, first-served basis from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Grovetown Senior Center. For information, call (706) 721-2327.
