Dance recital

Center Stage Dance Academy in Martinez will hold its annual spring recital at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bell Auditorium. Tickets cost $9 and may be purchased at the studio or at the door. Call (706) 228-3220.

Pet-rescue events

Happy Tails Rescue will hold a fund-raising car wash from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at AutoZone on Columbia Road near Belair Road. Homemade baked goods also will be for sale. Scholarships

The annual Fort Gordon Sergeants Major Association scholarship essay competition will be held through Saturday with three $500 scholarships available to Augusta-area high school graduates. Applicants do not need to be affiliated with the military. Applications are available from U.S. Army Community Services, Room 224, Darling Hall on Chamberlain Avenue, or online at sergeantsmajor.com at SMA Essay Competition.
