The Morris Museum of Art and Wachovia Corporation have named Angelika Selman-Bondar , visual arts teacher at Stevens Creek Elementary and Euchee Creek Elementary, the 2008 Outstanding Art Teacher in Visual Art, and Silke Piper , fifth-grade teacher at South Columbia Elementary, the 2008 Outstanding Classroom Teacher in Visual Art. The awards were given at a ceremony at the Morris Museum of Art on April 20.

UGA Arch Society inductee

Reuben A. Rentas , a third-year student in accounting at the University of Georgia, has been inducted into the University's Arch Society. Rentas was one of 36 students chosen to serve as official hosts and goodwill ambassadors for the University during the 2008-09 school year. Rentas is a 2005 graduate of Harlem High School and is the son of Reuben and Carmen Rentas. His other campus activities include membership in the Hispanic Student Association.

Furman University freshman honor

David B. Huff , son of Mr. and Mrs. David Huff, of Evans, was recently named a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society at the 2007-2008 induction ceremony at Furman University. To be eligible for membership in Furman's chapter, students must post a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale during one term of their freshman year.

Washington and Lee honor

Bena Mujanayi Tshishiku , a sophomore at Washington and Lee University, has earned honor roll status for the 2008 winter term. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene M. Tshishiku of Martinez.

Aquinas graduates

Auburn Dean's List

Sarah Koger of Evans has been named to the Deans List students at Auburn University for Spring Semester 2008. She is an English major in the College of Liberal Arts. She is the daughter of Marty and Susan Koger and a 2006 graduate of Augusta Preparatory School.
