Graduation ceremonies will be held Saturday

More than 1,300 high school seniors will undergo a rite of passage at James Brown Arena on Saturday when the Columbia County school system holds commencement exercises.

The first ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. when Greenbrier High School graduates cross the stage. Lakeside High School will follow with its commencement exercises at 11:30 a.m.

Evans High School will lead off the afternoon ceremonies at 2 p.m. The commencement exercises will conclude with Harlem High School at 4:30 p.m.

Graduation day at Augusta Christian Schools also is set for Saturday with a ceremony honoring 73 students at 4 p.m. at West Acres Baptist Church on Gibbs Road.

Evans Christian Academy also will hold its graduation ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday at In Focus Church on Old Evans Road, with 20 seniors receiving diplomas.

Forty-one seniors will receive their diplomas from Augusta Preparatory Day School on June 1. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the school's Boardman Athletic Center.
