Other state lawmakers expected to speak at the 7 a.m. breakfast, held at Savannah Rapids Pavilion, include state Sen. Bill Jackson, and Reps. Ben Harbin, Barry Fleming and Barbara Sims.

Previous speakers for the legislative breakfasts include Gov. Sonny Perdue and state Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson.

"Columbia County is a Tier 1 community. We're a force in Georgia," said Karen Chrjapin, executive director of the chamber. "It's appealing for these legislators to have the opportunity to come here."

The chamber-sponsored breakfasts offer the business community insight into legislative decisions that might affect their companies, Chrjapin said.

"I think it's invaluable to hear from the horse's mouth exactly what occurred during that legislative session and how that's going to impact this community, which could trickle down to our business owners," she said.

The breakfasts typically sell out and reservations are strongly encouraged, Chrjapin said.

The cost for the breakfast is $10 for chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. Reservations can be made by calling the chamber at (706) 651-0018, or through its Web site at www.columbiacountychamber.com.
