Purse party

Evans High School FCCLA will hold a Purse/Accessories Party fundraiser from 3-6:30 p.m. today in the commons area of the school. Purses, jewelry, beach towels, scarves, etc., will be for sale, with monogramming available. Proceeds will help to support FCCLA school and community service events.

Heritage fest

Primary qualifying

The Columbia County Republican Party has scheduled qualifying for Republican candidates for County Commission Districts 2, 3 and 4, tax commissioner, coroner, sheriff, chief magistrate, clerk of superior court and probate judge from 2-5 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to noon May 2 in the conference room of the Columbia County Board of Elections, 500 Faircloth Drive, Evans. Alzheimer's event

The Augusta office of the Alzheimer's Association's annual Night to Remember will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Marion Hatcher Center, 519 Greene St., Augusta. Tickets cost $50, with proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer's Association. For information, call (706) 731-9060.

Memorial service

The Maj. Gen. Ambrose Ransom Wright Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold a Confederate Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Columbia County Confederate Monument behind the library in Evans.

Crafters wanted

Cancer talk

The Rev. John Harmon of Mt. Enon Baptist Church will present an informational session on prostate cancer at 9 a.m. Saturday at Oakey Grove Baptist Church, 911 N. Belair Road, in Evans. The event is sponsored by The Fishers of Men Ministry of Oakey Grove.
