ASU honors

The following Columbia County high-school students were honored by Augusta State University at the African-American Scholar Recognition Program on Feb. 26 for their academic achievement as part of ASU's celebration of Black History Month: Darren Lee, Augusta Preparatory Day School; Andrew Phillips and Aisha Ford, Augusta Christian School; Adrian Lawrence and Mykel Green, Evans High School; Heather Pollard and Everette Smith, Greenbrier High School; Shye Richardson and Christopher Harper, Harlem High School; Courtney Bess and Toiya Turknett, Lakeside High School.

Vanderbilt Dean's List

Teaching award

The Southern Conference on Language Teaching (SCOLT) has honored Dr. Jana Sandarg with the 2008 SCOLT Post-Secondary World Languages Teacher of Exellence award. SCOLT is a foreign-language affiliate of the national organization, ACTFL, and is comprised of 13 states in the southeast USA and the Virgin Islands. Dr. Sandarg teaches Spanish at Augusta State University.
