The Columbia County Republican Party has scheduled qualifying for Republican candidates for County Commission Districts 2,3 and 4, tax commissioner, coroner, sheriff, chief magistrate, clerk of superior court and probate judge from 2-5 p.m. April 28 and from 10 a.m. to noon May 2 in the conference room of the Columbia County Board of Elections, 500 Faircloth Drive, Evans. Wildflower classes

Scholarships
The annual Fort Gordon Sergeants Major Association scholarship essay competition will be held through May 31, with three $500 scholarships available to Augusta-area high school graduates who do not need to be affiliated with the military to apply. Vendors wanted

Memorial service
The Maj. Gen. Ambrose Ransom Wright Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold a Confederate Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Columbia County Confederate Monument behind the library in Evans.
CF Walk

Film screening
A free public screening of the documentary, Divided We Fall , at 7 p.m. May 2 at the Columbia County Library. The film's producer, Valarie Kaur, will be available for audience questions afterwards.
