Rhinehart's Oyster Bar will sponsor a fund-raiser for Evans Christian Academy from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday. Plates cost $8 in advance, $10 at the door for ages 12-older. The event includes food, ice-carving, student entertainment and music. For information, call (706) 364-3565.

Purse party

Evans High School FCCLA will hold a Purse/Accessories Party fund-raiser from 3-6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the commons area of the school. Purses, jewelry, beach towels, scarves, etc., will be for sale, with monogramming available. Proceeds will help to support FCCLA school and community service events.

Heritage fest

Crafters wanted

A spring bazaar will be held at Marvin United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with spaces available to crafters for $25. Table rentals are $5 each. For information, call Karen at (706) 309-9522 or Judy at (706) 860-1639.

CSRA Writers

CSRA Writers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 1336 Augusta West Parkway. Writers needing a support group are invited to bring eight copies of a manuscript to be critiqued. Call Steve Fox at (706) 836-7315.

Bill Speer, historian for the U.S. Army Signal Corps, will be the guest speaker at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the monthly meeting of the Maj. Gen. Alzheimer's event

Kathy Tuckey of Augusta's Alzheimer's Association and Columbia County Sheriff's Lt. Patricia Champion will present a free education program, "Ensuring the Well-Being of the Person with Alzheimer's and other Dementias: Driving, Wandering and Other Potential Hazards," at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Elmcroft Assisted Living, The Pass at Furys Ferry Road.
