Pond school

Extension training

The Columbia County Extension Service will hold a lunchtime training session at noon Thursday, "Tree root protection during construction activities," at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Education credits are available. For information, call the Extension office at (706) 863-3413.

Group meets

The Georgia Real Estate Investors Association, a nonprofit group that discusses and shares information on local market and sales conditions, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Evans Library on North Belair Road. Archaeology club

Dr. Mark Barnes will be the guest speaker at the meeting of the Augusta Archaeological Society at 8 p.m. Thursday at Famous Dave's Restaurant, 2821 Washington Road. The meeting is free.

Gospel concert

Buddy Greene will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at Martinez Bible Chapel on Columbia Road in Martinez. Admission is free.

Bat program

IAAP meeting

Friday is the deadline for reservations for the 5:30 p.m. April 24 meeting of the International Association of Administrative Professionals at the Columbia County Government Complex Auditorium in Evans. Spring carnival

Lewiston Elementary School will hold its spring carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with rides, games, food, a silent auction and Mother's Day shopping. Armbands cost $15, with individual game tickets for 50 cents, and are available in advance or at the carnival.

Church yard sale

Crafters wanted

CSRA Writers

Scholarships

The annual Fort Gordon Sergeants Major Association scholarship essay competition will be held through May 31, with three $500 scholarships available to Augusta-area high school graduates who do not need to be affiliated with the military to apply. Camp meeting
