Barrett C. Davis , of Martinez, has been named to the fall 2007 dean's list at Georgia Southern University.
Christopher Cranford , of Grovetown, has been named to the fall 2007 dean's list at Limestone College.
Brian Maleck achieved dean's list recognition in his first semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Brian is a civil engineering major at the Troy, N.Y., college.
The Georgia Southern University chapter of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society recently inducted 344 new members. To become a member of Phi Eta Sigma, a student must earn a GPA of 3.5 during freshmen year. Included in the list of inductees are Michelle Buchanan , of Grovetown, and Michael Gubosh and Leigh Gunnels , of Evans.
Four Augusta Technical College students have been selected as college semifinalists for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership.
Chosen as semifinalists are Laura Ferguson , an occupational therapy assistant major from Martinez; Charlene Hardy , an occupational therapy assistant major from Evans; Rhonda Loring , a pharmacy technology major from Martinez; and Jason Trefil , a technical studies major from Fort Gordon.
Christopher Mattscheck , son of Douglas and Victoria Mattscheck, of Martinez, was named to the dean's list at Ithaca College's School of Humanities and Sciences for the fall 2007 term.
Megan Piers Heredia was inducted into the Beta Lambda Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Georgia Military College Augusta on Feb. 23. Heredia, majoring in general science, is the daughter of Pamela Smith and Steven Schretzmann, of Martinez.
Christopher Ciafardini , of Martinez, recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Ciafardini received a bachelor of fine arts degree in photography.
The following students have been inducted into the national honor society Phi Kappa Phi at Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga.: Jessica Rivers, of Evans, a senior; Ellis Cliett, of Grovetown, a graduate student; and Glenda Wiley, of Martinez, a graduate student.
Kevin Lillis , a junior Harding University nursing major from Evans, was one of 12 students traveling to Lakewood, Colo., during spring break. The group was to work with children at Dry Bones, a faith-based organization that provides resources, nutrition, social interaction and entertainment to homeless youth in downtown Denver.
Augusta State University held its annual Honors Convocation on March 14 at the Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Allison Schofield received the Scholastic Achievement Award for the third year in a row as a senior. She is an elementary education major and will graduate in May. Allison is a 2004 graduate of Evans High School.
Lauren Chandler , daughter of Bart and Tina Chandler, of Evans, has been awarded the Red and Black Scholar Athlete Award (Cheer) at the University of Louisville for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 for all semesters enrolled. Lauren is a 2006 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Professional honors
Lindsay S. Thetford , of Augusta, daughter of Lindsay and Wendy Thetford, of Martinez, has been promoted to marketing project manager at The Augusta Chronicle . She was previously the news assistant for The Chronicle . She is a 2000 graduate of Lakeside High School.
Limestone College
The following students were named to the honor roll at Limestone College for the fall 2007 semester: Carl Castle, David Johnston and Christina Rauls , all of Martinez.
The following local students graduated from Limestone College during the 2007 fall commencement in December: Latrice Danielle Hatchett , of Grovetown, graduated and was awarded a bachelor of science degree in business administration-accounting. Carl David Castle , of Martinez, graduated and was awarded an associate of science degree in CSIT information technology.
