In Martinez and Evans, several new restaurants have opened since this time last year..

Shane's Rib Shack, the county's newest restaurant, at 4446 Washington Road in the Shoppes at Camelot plaza in Evans, offers barbecue chicken, baby back ribs and wings for those who'd prefer dinner with a Southern flair.

"The ribs and the pork are (the customers') favorites, it seems to be," said Kellie Johnson, the owner of the restaurant that opened Feb. 21.

Diners searching for an Asian twist to their meals can find it at Kinki Sushi, a Japanese sushi bar at 4017 Columbia Road in Columbia Plaza in Martinez. Emashiya Korean BBQ, also in Columbia Plaza, offers a menu of traditional Korean cuisine, including bulgogi, rice and kimchi.

Those with a taste for Italian can satisfy their cravings at Luciano's, formerly Mimmo's Taste of Italy, in the Shoppes at Furys Ferry at the corner of Furys Ferry and Baston roads. Robolli's Wings and Pizza also opened in November in The Petersburg Shoppes at the corner of Furys Ferry Road and The Pass.

For something a little more upscale, Masters guests can head to Stonecrest Southern Steakhouse for a steak and a glass of wine. The restaurant opened at 601 N. Belair Road in October.

Other restaurants opening in recent months include a second location of Dino's Chicago Express in the Shoppes at Camelot, Senor Taco on Washington Road across from Wal-Mart, a Sonic drive-through on Furys Ferry Road, Smoothie Heaven in Liberty Square on Washington Road -- which joins Goolsby's restaurant and Patagonia Grill in the same center -- and a new location of Zaxby's on William Few Parkway

For those visitors who'd rather stock up for their own entertaining, Columbia County offers Earth Fare, an organic food grocer, which opened in November in the Shoppes at Furys Ferry.

Across the street and just a short distance north, Toast Wine and Beverage opened in November near the Publix in Martinez.
