Shane's Rib Shack opened Feb. 21 at 4446 Washington Road in the Shoppes at Camelot plaza, across from the Evans Wal-Mart.
The menu consists of Southern barbecue meals, which include ribs, pork and chicken entrees in addition to salads, wings and sandwiches. Catering is available.
The price of an entree ranges from $3.99 for a child's plate to $17.99 for either a plate of ribs and pork or a plate of ribs and chicken. A large plate of the barbecue baby back ribs costs $15.99.
Kellie Johnson, an owner of Shane's Rib Shack, said she's been a fan of the Raving Brands franchise after visiting a couple of the chain restaurant's other locations.
"We just started going to the Shane's (restaurant) in Statesboro and Athens and just really liked it," said Johnson, who owns the restaurant with her father and another business partner.
She said she wants the restaurant to become part of the community.
Shane's is sponsoring Greenbrier High School's baseball team and has teamed up as a business partner with Lewiston Elementary School.
"We've had a lot of support from the community, and everything's been great so far," she said. "We have not slowed down."
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
Next door at the Liberty Square shopping center, Juice Heaven opened its doors March 7.
"It is a fresh juice and smoothie franchise that originated in California," owner Cheryl Pickard said. "We serve organic vegetable juices and smoothies of over 20 different varieties."
The Evans location is the first franchise of Juice Heaven in the Southeast, she said.
A small smoothie costs $3.25 and a 32-ounce large smoothie costs $5.25.
"There is no added sugar and no hidden ingredients," Pickard said. "Everything is fresh and healthy."
Juice Heaven offers gift and member cards.
The drinks are designed for a wide range of clientele, she said.
"We can probably suit pretty much any taste, any group, any genre of people out there who want a good drink," she said.
Pickard said customers tend to favor the vegetable-lover drink, which is a combination of celery, carrot and beet juices.
The watermelon twist and peanut butter fusion smoothies also make for a sweet treat, she said.
The shop is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday.
Hardwood Floors and More recently relocated to 4750 Washington Road.
The new 8,000-square-foot showroom opened March 1 with an additional lighting gallery and kitchen and bath fixtures.
The store houses all types of flooring, including unfinished and pre-finished hardwood, carpet, tile and area rugs, said Suzanne Lilly, who owns the store with her husband, Ray.
The business focuses on helping customers remodel or build their homes in the most efficient way, Lilly said.
The interior design center is open from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday.
Multi-Area Education Services LLC recently opened M.A.E.S. Education Center at 4116 Evans-to-Locks Road, at Blue Ridge Drive.
Owned by retired high school counselor Mae Guinn, M.A.E.S. offers tutoring, SAT prep classes and high-school classes geared toward home-school families, along with college counseling.
