Parent visit

Parents of rising seventh- and eighth-graders being rezoned from Evans Middle School are invited to a drop-in visit at Lakeside Middle School all day Thursday. Call Ashley Renew or Katie Newton at (706) 855-6900.

Crafters wanted

A spring bazaar will be held at Marvin United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26, with spaces available to crafters for $25. Table rentals cost $5 each. For information, call Karen at (706) 309-9522 or Judy at (706) 860-1639.

Barbecue benefit

A barbecue rib dinner will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bernie Ward Community Center at 2027 Lumpkin Road in Augusta. Proceeds benefit Mary Jefferson, of Appling, who needs a kidney transplant. A plate costs $10 and includes barbecue ribs, hash and rice, potato salad, bread and cake.

Spring carnival

Lewiston Elementary School will hold its spring carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 19 with rides, games, food, a silent auction and Mother's Day shopping. Armbands cost $15, with individual game tickets for 50 cents, and are available in advance or at the carnival.

Wildflower classes

Sessions on wildflower identification are held weekdays through May 9 from 4:15-5:45 p.m. at the entrance to Savannah Rapids Pavilion and other locations and times as requested. Call (706) 868-0296, or e-mail jopagr@comcast.net.

School showcase

Harlem Middle School's music department will hold a talent showcase at 7 p.m. Thursday in the gym. Tickets cost $5 for adults and high school and middle school pupils, $3 for elementary.

Mini-golf tourney

Elijah Clark State Park in Lincolnton will hold a parent-child miniature golf tournament April 9. Registration fee is $3 per child. Call (706) 359-3458.
