A ceremony to unveil a marker dedicated to Columbia County's volunteer firefighters will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eubank Blanchard Park in Appling.

Stevens Creek Elementary will hold a kindergarten preview and registration night from 6-7 p.m. Thursday for parents of students entering kindergarten at Stevens Creek during the 2008-09 year.

Garden seminar
The University of Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture and the Columbia County Extension Service will present a free, educational brown-bag lunch series of live Internet broadcasts from noon-1 p.m. Thursday and April 17 at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Topics include turf care, water conservation and tree-root protection; education credits are available.

GHS musical
The Greenbrier High School Pack Players will present the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the school auditorium. Tickets cost $5 for students, $8 for adults, and are available at the door.

Sitter class
Safe Kids of East Central Georgia will hold a safe sitter class for ages 11-13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, in Evans. Cost is $25 and includes lunch.
