Teams from two opposing counties will hope for the luck of the Irish as they attempt to blast each other at Adventure Crossing on St. Patrick's Day.

While playing host to a Columbia County Chamber of Commerce event Monday, owners of the amusement park at 4350 Wheeler Road will unveil Lasertron.

"It's a team-based, laser-tag sport arena," said Ed Smith, a managing partner at Adventure Crossing. "You wear a vest that is radio linked to a computer system. There's a speaker system in the vest that communicates to the player's changes in the game as it goes along. We have the ability to play up to 250 different game formats, so it never gets boring."

The first to venture into the new facility will be Columbia County Commission Chairman Ron Cross and Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver.

Each will command a 15-member team and take on each other for an exhibition match.

"The two of them agreed that would be a neat, fun thing to do," Smith said. "The concept is just a friendly match between two of the major counties that we serve."

Once Cross and Copenhaver complete their match, Lasertron will be open to the public.

The chamber event will be held 5-7 p.m.
