March 31 is the deadline for entries in the Eighth Annual Poetry Month Tribute, open to middle- and high-school students and adults. The reading and awards ceremony will be held 5-8 p.m. April 26 at the Center for Primary Care medical building at The Village at Crossroads, on Dyess Parkway near Wrightsboro Road. Alzheimer's lunch
Attorney Russell Mobley will discuss "Dementia and Alzheimer's: Legal Needs" at a free luncheon presented by the Augusta Alzheimer's Association from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the MCG Alumni Center, 919 15th St. Reservations are due by noon Monday by calling Dr. Shirley Poduslo at (706) 721-0609.
Clothing sale
The Children's Resource Center, operated by the Columbia County Foundation for Children, will hold its end-of-season bag sale Tuesday through April 10. Winter clothing will be sold for $3 per bag. The center, at 6347 Columbia Road, in Appling, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of each month. Sign classes
An eight-week, intermediate-level sign language course geared toward those with health care training will be held on Thursdays starting March 13 at University Health Care System. For information, call (706) 774-8559.

Applications for the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce 2009 Youth Leadership Program are available to rising sophomores or juniors who are residents of Columbia County, attend a public or private school or are home-schooled.
