Scholarship

Thursday is the deadline to apply for a $500 scholarship available to a Columbia County student from the Georgia Mining Association. Students who have applied to an accredited Georgia college or university may apply. Forms are available from school counselors or online at www.georgiamining.org. Alzheimer's event

Monday is the registration deadline for the Augusta Alzheimer's Association's ninth annual education symposium for family and professional caregivers. "Alzheimer's and Dementias: Care Strategies," will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 8 at the Gordon Club at Fort Gordon. Cost is $25, or $45 for professionals requiring contact hours, and includes breakfast, lunch and materials. Call (706) 731-9060.
