Whitney Elizabeth Blackburn was elected president of Zeta Xi chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha at Georgia Southern University. Blackburn is a second-semester junior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Blackburn of Martinez. She is a 2005 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Karen Nowling, of Evans, was selected as a member of Georgia Southern University's Orientation Advisement and Registration team. She is one of 24 student leaders selected to represent Georgia Southern University during summer 2008 orientation.

Shelly Clark , of Evans, daughter of Raymond and Sherri Clark, was named to the Dean's List at Georgia Southern University for the fall 2007 semester.
