American Idol runner-up Bo Bice is set to kick off a new concert series at the Columbia County Amphitheater that will feature a variety of national and area acts in country, pop, rock and bluegrass music.

For the Fans Entertainment LLC announced the nine-concert series during a ribbon-cutting Thursday.
Shows are designed for families and will be performed Sunday nights at least once a month. Two shows are scheduled in April.
For the Fans Entertainment LLC partners Sean Frantom, Jayson Sabo and Dakota West, all Columbia County residents, said they started work on the Music Evolution Series about a year ago.
"Columbia County is very excited about this great collaborative that we're going to have between the county and For the Fans Entertainment," said Barry Smith, the director of the Columbia County Community and Leisure Services Division. "For the next eight months we're going to have some good music for the citizens to enjoy."
The first show, on March 16, will feature American Idol runner-up Bo Bice, local performer Patrick Blanchard, and country rock band Crossin' Dixon. Tickets for the show are now on sale.
Sabo said the Augusta area often is bypassed by musical acts and concert promoters scheduling shows in other areas across the Southeast.
"These are the kind of concerts we could have here locally and that we could have a great community impact on," Sabo said.
Tickets will cost between $15 and $30 and can be purchased at Merle Norman Cosmetics, Wild Wing Cafe and Columbia County Community Events Building B. Tickets also can be purchased online at www.etix.com and www.forthefanstentertainment.com.
Sabo said he hopes to attract 2,500 fans for each show. Information on the artists will not be released until three to four weeks before each show to increase fan anticipation, he said.
Some proceeds from the music series will go toward the Columbia County Board of Education for music departments in area elementary schools, Sabo said.
"We're hoping we can bring the CSRA together monthly for not just a concert but for a gathering," Sabo said.
