Harlem now boasts two new businesses --- a coffeehouse and a consignment shop.

For those who enjoy a cup of coffee and a good book, the Sit A Spell Coffee House opened Dec. 8 in the IGA shopping center at 573 Milledgeville Road.
Owner Jennifer Tutt said she started the business because she likes preparing different foods, loves coffee and has lots of books.
"One of the reasons (I started the coffeehouse), is because I had so many books," Tutt said.
"I thought (it'd be nice) if there was a coffeehouse where I can bring books, a place where people can come in and read, sit down and enjoy themselves."
Offerings include espresso, cappuccino, latte, smoothies and its signature fresh-ground, custom blended Sit A Spell Signature Coffee.
The menu also includes sandwiches, wraps, salads, potato soup and chili, turnovers, rolls, cakes and other desserts.
The shop has bookcases full of books, a false fireplace and a television that usually plays movies.
"We want it to feel like home," Tutt said.
The coffeehouse also has a weekly Poetry Night, for anyone who'd like to read their favorite or original poem, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturdays.
A newly-created book discussion group will meet monthly.
To join the group or find out the monthly book, call the coffeehouse at (706) 556-3800.
Sit A Spell is open from 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
