Signing Day promises to be a busy day for Columbia County athletes

Fan invited to Signing Day party set for today

Posted: Wednesday, February 06, 2008

The Evans Knights enjoyed one of the finest seasons in school history in 2007, and all of that success seems to be paying dividends in the recruiting process.

//

The Knights will have several players signing college scholarships today, college football's National Signing Day. Evans, like most teams, will have a few players who will make decisions at the last possible second, and a few will wait until after Signing Day to make their choices official.

In addition to Evans, each school in the county has players waiting on offers or trying to make a final choice.

Here is a list of the players who will be signing scholarships today, as well as the players who are still contemplating their decisions.

EVANS

Trey Henderson (DB) will sign with Coastal Carolina.

Tim Tillman (DL) will sign with Alabama A&M.

Michael Heredia (OL) will sign with Gardner-Webb or Tusculum College.

Mykel Green (DE) will sign with Morehouse College.

Jonathan Nicely (WR) was offered by North Carolina Central on Saturday and could sign today, pending his decision.

Kevin Millward (P) has several schools that have shown interest. He would like to play football and baseball, but might end up sticking to the diamond.

Trey Golsto n (DL) is still working on his grades a bit, but has several schools showing interest. Might go the junior college route.

LAKESIDE

Dustin Banks (TE) had an offer from Gardner Webb but decided to attend UGA as a student only, according to coach Jody Grooms.

GREENBRIER

Nick Richards (QB) has some schools interested, and could get an offer at the last minute. Valdosta State is a possibility.

HARLEM

Mike Leverett (LB) has several schools showing interest, but will likely decide after Signing Day. He could choose to play baseball.

AUGUSTA CHRISTIAN

(All will probably sign after Signing Day,)

Jay Harmon (FB) probably is headed to junior college, possibly Georgia Military.

Travis Cerasuolo (P) West Georgia and Valdosta State like him as a punter; Georgia Military is a possibility, too.

Corey Critell : Charleston Southern has made a partial offer, and several other schools are showing interest.

Zach Cooper (OL) probably is headed to a junior college. Louisburg Junior College in North Carolina is a possibly.

Tyler Bourdo (QB) is considering a couple of Division III schools.

I would like to invite football fans to my seventh annual College Football Signing Day Party this afternoon. Fans will have a chance to meet and greet all the players, and there will be a ton of prizes given away.
