The Columbia County Health Department and local volunteer physicians have started a free clinic to serve the medical needs of the uninsured and indigent.
//
The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at the health department's Harlem/Grovetown clinic at 5915 Euchee Creek Drive, near Grovetown. The clinic will be open the first Saturday of each month.
The clinic will serve children and adults, but is limited to the indigent, those who earn 200 percent or less of the poverty level and have no insurance, Medicaid, Medicare or PeachCare.
There is no cost to see a doctor, though fees could apply to X-rays, laboratory tests and medications.
Appointments are needed, though walk-ins will be taken as scheduling permits. To make an appointment, call the clinic at (706) 556-3727.
For more information about the monthly clinic, call any of the three health department locations -- Evans, (706) 868-3330; Appling, (706) 541-1318; or Harlem/Grovetown, (706) 556-3727.
