Military newsmakers

Army Pvt. Theodore E. Finley has arrived for duty at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. Finley, an infantryman, is assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment. He is the son of Albert and Debbie Valente, of Appling, and a 2006 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Army Sgt. Eric C. Swanson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. He is the son of Greg and Susan Swanson, of Martinez. Swanson graduated in 1999 from Evans High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2006 from Augusta State University.

Army Reserve Pvt. Sara N. Rogers has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. She is the daughter of Aeri Rogers, of Evans, and a 2007 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Army Pfc. Ronald L. Harvey has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. He is the son of Angie Harvey, of Delray Beach, Fla., and Ronald Harvey, of Grovetown.

Army Pvt. Keywanda N. Richard has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. She is the daughter of Mary Richard, of Appling, and granddaughter of Gloria Clark, of Augusta. She is a 1999 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Army Pvt. Ashley N. Witherspoon has graduated from the Automated Logistical Specialist Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va. She is the daughter of Joyce Fisher, of Grovetown, and a 2007 graduate of Harlem High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Amelia R. Wilson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. She is the daughter of Ronique Garrett, of Martinez, and a 2003 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County.

Army Reserve Pfc. Thomas A. Harrington has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. He is the son of Dennis Harrington, of Martinez, and a 2007 graduate of Evans High School.

Army Pvt. Jalisia N. Garnett has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia. She is the daughter of Elvin Garnett, of Grovetown, and Melissa Garnett, of Appling, and a 2006 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Brittanie A. Grammar has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year. Grammar, a 2004 graduate of Evans High School, will report to Fort Jackson in Columbia for basic training in January. She is the daughter of Mary F. Pileggi, of Appling, and Jerry L. Smith, of Glasgow, Ky.
