The Grovetown Lions Club would like to thank the surrounding community for it tremendous support during this year's annual Turkey Shoot fund-raising event which ended Dec. 14.

This year, the event raised more than $10,000, of which each and every dollar raised will be donated to both local and worldwide community and charitable organizations. A totally separate fund, comprised of member dues, is used for the administration of the club.

Lions, in their efforts to "be the knights of the blind and deaf," are an association that is both non-political and non-sectarian. Lions are now best known for their sight-related programs, including SightFirst, the world's largest blindness prevention program, and Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Leader Dogs for the Blind is proud to have assisted more than 13,000 people in achieving the freedom of safe and independent travel, and is one of only two schools in the world to offer dog guides to persons who are both deaf and blind.

Almost $7,500 was donated to charities and scholarships during 2007 by the Grovetown Lions Club. You make this possible.

Thanks again, and happy holidays.
