Carter finishes 2nd at Pinehurst

At least one local golfer has spent plenty of time on the winning end of golf courses this fall. Lakeside junior Brian Carter finished in second place in the International Junior Golf Tour's major at Pinehurst played on Pinehurst No. 8 on Nov. 17-18. Carter triple bogeyed the second hole of his final round in the tournament but immediately recovered with a pair of birdies to finish 74-74, one stroke out of first place.

Carter's second place finish qualified him for the IJGT's Tournament of Champions held Memorial Day weekend at the Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Carter also claimed first place in the 16-18 age group at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's Tournaments of Champions at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Senator course in Montgomery, Ala. last weekend.
