Area dignitaries and businesspeople attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 28,500-square-foot store at 515 Chamblin Road in Grovetown.

The Grovetown Metrac specializes in selling John Deere heavy equipment such as bulldozers and front-end loaders.

"We're pleased to bring yet another John Deere sign to Grovetown, but this time on a retail level," said Chris Cruikshank, who owns Metrac with his brothers Allen and Kevin.

The brothers' father, Bob, started the business more than 30 years ago.

"It's got to be a proud moment for Bob and I know for a fact it's a proud moment for us," said Kevin Cruikshank of opening the new store.
