Evans' boys basketball team won its first home game of the year last weekend with a 69-59 win over Harlem. The fourth win of the season for the Knights came thanks to a strong defensive effort and an even better night from the free-throw line.

Evans' defense held Harlem's top scorer, Cedric Boatner, to only 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the field. Boatner entered the game averaging 21 points per night.

From the free-throw line, the Knights hit 26 of 37 attempts in the game. The fourth quarter saw Evans hit 11 of 13 foul shots.

It all came as the Knights put a brand new starting five on the floor for the first time this year. The squad had five players who missed the first four games of the season because they were on the football team. Those five players, three of the starters, practiced with the team for the first time last week.

The Knights went on to pick up their fifth win of the year on Saturday with a 57-48 win over Aquinas.

Senior Jonathan Nicely led all scorers with 26 points.
