Author Dr. Rachel Zohar Dulin will present Alive, Unabashed and Passionate on Saturday at the Augusta Jewish Community Center as part of the annual Hanukkah Bazaar and Book Sale of the Augusta Jewish Federation.

Dulin is the author of three books, including Bible: Women, Aging, Politics , and has taught adult education for more than 40 years. She was a professor of Hebrew and Bible at Spertus Institute in Chicago, as well as a visiting professor at several other universities.

"She is very knowledgeable and extremely impressive," said Leah Ronen, executive director of the Augusta Jewish Foundation. "She's also a very nice person. We are just thrilled that she's coming."

Ronen added she had the "astonishing honor" of meeting with Dulin when she was putting the content together, which Ronen said is very unusual: a first-person soliloquy of women in the Bible.

"It was so beautiful that I was just speechless," Ronen said. "Dr. Dulin misunderstood at first and asked, 'You don't like it?' But I told her that I loved it. It was wonderful!"

Tickets cost $5 each, with free admission for Community Center members. Both the performance and the bazaar and book sale are open to the public.

The Augusta Jewish Community Center is located at 898 Weinberger Way in Evans. The bazaar and book sale is on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call Alberta Goldberg at (706) 228-3636.
