GISA honors Bland as Coach of Year

One final volleyball award has been announced by the Georgia Independent Schools Association. Augusta Prep volleyball coach Rich Bland has been named the 2007 GISA Class AAA Volleyball Coach of the Year.

Bland, in his sixth year as volleyball head coach, led the Lady Cavaliers to a second-straight GISA Class AAA volleyball state championship in October. Augusta Prep saw three players named to the GISA Class AAA All-State Team; six had All-Region 4-AAA honors.

Softball tryouts

The Georgia Rockers 10U travel team is looking for girls ages 9-10 interested in playing fast-pitch softball for the 2008 season. For more information, contact Ike Branch at (706) 373-9581 or (706) 860-3886.

Tennis tourney

A Junior Tennis League tournament will be held Dec. 8 at Newman Tennis Center, in Augusta. The tournament is free for all registered 2007 JTL players, or $20 for other players.
