Harlem High School outfielder Carlos Beard has verbally committed to play baseball at Francis Marion University. The Patriots play in the talent-laden Peach Belt Conference and have produced several recent Major League draft picks.

FMU was most impressed with Beard's blazing speed but also loves his overall potential. Beard will be a key figure for Jimmie Lewis' Bulldogs. As a junior, Beard hit .294 and was one of the area's top defensive players.

Ho, Ho, Ho

It is becoming a broken record, but Cheng Ho was at it again last week when he posted his third consecutive 100-yard game for Harvard. The sophomore ran for 119 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries as Harvard remained unbeaten in the Ivy League at 5-0.

Overall, the Crimson are 6-2 and have won five straight games. The former Evans standout is a major reason for their recent success. For the season, Ho has rushed for 580 yards and five touchdowns on 123 carries.
