The speaker at a Friday Columbia County Chamber of Commerce luncheon will stress that customer service helps companies improve their bottom lines.

Denise Ryan, an entrepreneur and business motivational speaker, will make her third and final appearance at the Leadership Connection luncheon series, with a lecture called "It's All About Customer Service." Ryan will discuss how to improve customer relations, give customers exactly what they want and what not to say to clients, according to a synopsis of the talk.

Ryan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a master's degree in business, and after a short career in marketing and advertising, began her motivational speaking company, Firestar Speaking.

Chamber Programs Director Chris Baum said Ryan's talk will complement the themes of her previous lectures on motivation and the importance of networking.

"The focus of her talk will be the importance of paying attention to your customer service in your business," Baum said. "It's really a make-or-break component of your business, no matter what size your business is."

Baum said the idea of good customer service isn't limited to those paying for goods. A customer is anyone requiring attention or help, but can be a client or a co-worker, she said.

The luncheon will be held at the Belair Conference Center off Jimmie Dyess Parkway. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and will last until about 1 p.m.

Advance admission to the event is $20 for chamber members and $25 for non-members. For reservations, call Baum at (706) 651-0018.
