Series in music to have finale

One of the sparse rain storms to hit the area in the past few months forced Columbia County officials to cancel the finale of a six-part concert series in September.

The last concert in the Sunset Music Series has been rescheduled for Thursday, said Stacie Adkins, the county's community events manager.

The free concert features the Groove Masters and begins at 6:30 p.m. in the amphitheater behind the Columbia County Library at 7022 Evans Town Center Blvd. in Evans.

"I think the public is really enjoying them (the concerts in the series) and they are becoming more popular," Adkins said.

Previous concerts in the Thursday-evening series featured a variety of music including bluegrass, oldies, beach music and rock.

The Groove Masters song list ranges from Motown R & B to classic rock and country. Admission to the concert is free. Chairs, blankets and picnics are welcome.
