Mercer University May 2007 graduates
Kimberly J. Johnson, of Appling, graduated in May from Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts. Kimberly majored in biology and received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Aleesha E. Posey, of Evans, graduated in May from Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts. Aleesha majored in English and received a bachelor of arts degree.
Nicholas D. Reigle, of Harlem, graduated in May magna cum laude, from Mercer University's Townsend School of Music. Nicholas majored in music and received a bachelor of arts degree.
Vanderbilt U. Dean's List
Courtney Kristine Shade, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence T. Shade, of Grovetown, and a student at Peabody College, has been named to the Dean's List for the spring semester.

Anju Mary Mammen, of Martinez, graduated in May from Vanderbilt University's College of Arts and Science. She majored in molecular and cellular biology with interdisciplinary medicine, health and society. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science, cum laude. She is the daughter of Drs. Thampy and Annamma Mammen.
Scholarship finalists are announced
Christopher A. Gates, of Evans, Greenbrier High School; and Andrew Phillips, of Martinez, Augusta Christian School, are among more than 1,600 black high school seniors designated as semifinalists in the 44th annual Achievement Scholarship competition. They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 800 scholarships worth more than $2.5 million to be awarded in the spring.
ASU acceptance
William Richmond Thetford, of Augusta, a graduate of Augusta Christian Schools and the son of Lindsay and Wendy Thetford, of Martinez, has been accepted to Augusta State University and will begin attending the fall semester.
ABAC graduate
Courtnee Inglett, of Harlem, was among 56 students to graduate from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga., at the end of the summer term. Inglett received a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.

Sheel Nitin Shah, of Martinez, has been named to the President's List for the summer semester at the University of Georgia.

Cobb scholarships
The following students attending the Medical College of Georgia are new recipients of a scholarship provided by the Ty Cobb Educational Foundation: John Haycock, of Evans, Rashmi Ponnala, of Evans, Ryan Price, of Martinez, and Christopher Howlett, of Martinez. Casey Morrison, of Harlem, a pre-nursing student at the University of Georgia, is also a recipient of the scholarship provided by the Ty Cobb Educational Foundation. These students are listed among 208 Georgia residents who received $505,000 in scholarships for the 2007-08 academic year.
Resident assistants chosen for GSU
Georgia Southern University students from Columbia County were selected as resident assistants for the 2007-08 academic year. They include: Ryan Cutcliffe, of Evans, a sophomore construction management major and the son of Steve and Linda Cutcliffe; Nathan Hartsell, of Grovetown, a junior information technology major and the son of Mike and April Hartsell; Brandon Henson, of Martinez, a sophomore music education/performance major and the son of Ruth Ann Bourne; David Lyons, of Evans, a senior accounting major and the son of Martha and Robert Lyons; and, Allaura Sanchez, of Grovetown, a sophomore history major and the daughter of Cynthia Sanchez.
Kaplan University business graduate
Mark Jackson, of Grovetown, was awarded a bachelor of science in business degree magna cum laude from Kaplan University during a commencement ceremony at the Symphony Center in Chicago on Aug. 4.
