I am a member and the current president of the Gamma Gamma chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary educational sorority for women educators. Gamma Gamma members are current or retired Columbia County elementary, middle and high school teachers and administrators. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to quality teaching and to helping our community.

We currently contribute to the Augusta Ronald McDonald House and to the American Cancer Society, specifically to breast cancer research. In fact, each year we help to assemble the packets for the Relay for Life, and we make small pillows for recovering cancer surgery patients. These are donated to the University Hospital Breast Cancer Unit.

We also award a $500. scholarship each year to a Columbia County graduate who plans to enter the field of education. The bulk of the proceeds for this award comes from our annual used book sale.

October is ADK month, and we, the Gamma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, salute with thanks our teachers, students and parents.
