DAR declaration

The Columbia County Commission, in cooperation with the College Hill Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, issued a proclamation declaring the week of Sept. 17-23, as Constitution Week in Columbia County.

Receiving the proclamation from the County Commission were Frankie Rush Nevins, regent; Polly Williams, Constitution Week chairwoman; and Carol Gay, membership chairwoman, of the College Hill Chapter, NSDAR.

Chapter members observed Constitution Week with the placing of a wreath at the grave of Col. William Few at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery. Few was a member of the Continental Congress when the Constitution was adopted, and was a signer.

Georgia Southern summer 2007 president's list

William C. Stone, of Martinez, has been named to the Summer 2007 President's List at Georgia Southern University for achieving a 4.0 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credit hours for the semester.

Georgia Southern University summer 2007 Dean's List

Virginia C. Millar, of Martinez, who is majoring in Art, and Christopher S. Rushing, of Grovetown, majoring in pre-communication arts, have been named to the Dean's List for the Summer 2007 term at Georgia Southern University.

Johnson & Wales University graduate

Peterray Furno, of Evans, received a bachelor of science in baking and pastry arts from the College of Culinary Arts at the Charlotte campus ceremony.

Cassie L. Whitaker, of Harlem, has been selected for the Distinguished Achievement List for the 2007 summer term at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Ithaca College Dean's List

Christopher Mattscheck, son of Martinez residents Douglas and Victoria Mattscheck, was named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College's (New York) School of Humanities and Sciences for the spring 2007 term.
