Cost of pet adoptions will be reduced at event

Columbia County Animal Care and Control will hold a special pet adoption event in Appling on Friday and Saturday.

Animal Care and Control Manager Linda Fulmer said adoption prices will be reduced for the two-day event. She said the event helps with both immediate adoptions and promotion of the facility.

"We do it on a quarterly basis to let people know where we are and try to get more people out here to adopt from us," she said.

The adoption event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and continues from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Light refreshments will be available at the event, Fulmer said. Closed-toe shoes are required of visitors to the facility.

Dogs and puppies are $10 and kittens and cats are $5. There is a limit of one pet per household and animals must be spayed or neutered.
