St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church will offer a free five-part series on the relationship between science and religion at 6:45 p.m. each Sunday starting today. Vendors wanted

Octoberfest

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 192 will hold Octoberfest starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday until food runs out. Cost is $5 per plate. A silent auction will be held starting at 1:30 p.m. Post 192 is located on Legion Drive just off Owens Road. For information, call (706) 863-8728.

Fair entries

The Columbia County Extension Service is seeking youth entries for the Columbia County Fall Fair, with more than $2,000 in prize money offered. All items must be entered from 1:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the fairgrounds. For information and categories, go to www.ugaextension.com/columbia.

Flu shots

The Columbia County Health Department will hold flu shot clinics from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue headquarters, and at health department offices in Appling and Grovetown. Shots cost $20. For information, call (706) 868-3330.

Tax helpers

The Augusta-area AARP Tax-Aide program is seeking volunteers with computer experience to help low- to medium-income citizens with their income taxes. A free training course will be held in December and January. District Coordinator Bill Kozel will be at the Columbia County Library from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday to answer questions.
