Contestants are being sought for the 2007 Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant to be held Saturday. Sponsored by the Columbia County Merchants Association, the pageant is open to single women ages 17-24, with judging in interview, swimsuit and evening gown competition. Book fairs

- Lakeside Middle School's fall book fair will be held Monday-Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family night will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

- The Greenbrier Elementary School fall Scholastic Book Fair will be held each day through Friday in the school media center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Family night will be 4-6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Voter drives

Columbia County's Board of Elections will hold voter registration drives at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Lakeside High School football game; at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Harlem High football game; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Oliver Hardy Festival, in Harlem; 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Evans High School football game; and at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Greenbrier High School football game.
