Fair pageant seeks contestants

Contestants are being sought for the 2007 Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant to be held Sept. 29. Sponsored by the Columbia County Merchants Association, the pageant is open to single women ages 17-24, with judging in interview, swimsuit and evening gown competition. Dance yard sale

The parents at Center Stage Dance Academy will hold a multifamily indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Flowing Wells Worship Center, on the Richmond County section of Flowing Wells Road off Frontage Road. Hot dog lunches will be available.

Cancer screen

Doctors Hospital will provide free prostate cancer screening blood tests from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart in Evans. Call Lance Danko at (706) 651-2283, or go to www.doctors-hospital.net.

Sierra Club

Todd Daniel, a Sierra Club expert on population issues, will present a program at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Walton Way Extension. Light refreshments will be available. For information, call Judy Gordon at (706) 650-8314.

Art sought

Entries are being sought for the Artists' Guild of Columbia County's second annual Art After Dark exhibition, to be held Nov. 30-Dec. 29 at the Columbia County Library, with an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 30. Accessory party

The Evans High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will hold a drop-in accessories party from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 in the school commons area, with fashion accessories available for purchase. Monogramming will be available. The event is a fundraiser for the FCCLA.
