Conditioning camp
A free conditioning camp is held at Blanchard Park every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through August. Saturday camps run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Tuesday and Thursday camps will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The camp is intended to help 8- to 14-year-olds prepare for the upcoming football season. Baseball tourneys
Registration for fall baseball tournaments is open to any travel baseball teams. Tournaments include the Atomic City Summer Blast, Aug. 18-19 in Aiken; the Peach Belt Border Bash, Sept. 15-16 in Aiken; the A-Town Throw Down NIT, Sept. 28-30 in Aiken; the Savannah River Slugfest, Oct. 13-14 in North Augusta; the Georgia-Line Boo Ball NIT, Oct. 26-28 in Aiken; and the Aiken Fall Finale, Nov. 10-11 in Aiken. Ring donations
A fund has been set up at Greenbrier High School to help the Wolfpack baseball team pay for their Class AAAA state championship rings. To make a donation, send a check or money order to Greenbrier High School, 5114 Riverwood Parkway, Evans, GA 30809. Make checks payable to Greenbrier High School baseball and mark it "ring fund."
Rowing club
Augusta Junior Rowing Team is having an Open House Aug. 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Boathouse in Augusta. Arrive before 6:30 p.m. to see the team rowing. Ages 13-18 may join the team on a trial basis Sept. 4-14 from 4-6 p.m. No experience is necessary. For information, go to www.augustarowingclub.org.
