The public is invited to nominate candidates for Columbia County Arts Inc.'s third annual Individual Artist award, given to a living county artist who is dedicated to excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in Columbia County. The deadline is Aug. 20. Forms are available at www.columbiacountyarts.org, or by calling (706) 650-2527.

Libraries closed

All Columbia County libraries will be closed today for in-service staff training.

School event

Fort briefing

The monthly Community Information Briefing at Fort Gordon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 15 at the Gordon Club, on 19th Street.
