The county's six-part 2007 Sunset Music Series begins at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater behind the Columbia County Library at 7022 Evans Town Center Blvd. in Evans.

The first concert features Peter Bragg and Chris Hughes, a Georgia pair who play a variety of oldies, beach music and classic rock.

Free concerts will be held in the outdoor venue every Thursday through Sept. 13, said Brook Willis, a county community events specialist.

"We tried to have a variety to appeal to everyone," said Willis, adding that other series concerts feature different musical styles, including jazz, bluegrass, blues, R&B and country.

The series schedule includes Livingroom Legends on Aug. 16; Fret Not! bluegrass band on Aug. 23; Preston and Weston on Aug. 30; the Vellotones on Sept. 9 and The Groove Masters on Sept. 13.

Admission to the concerts is free and Willis encourages families to bring their blankets, chairs and picnics.

Tables and chairs for four people are on sale for the Sept. 13 series finale concert featuring The Groove Masters. Willis said the tables, covered in a white linen table cloth, cost $25 each and allow concert-goers to enjoy the event with their own picnic or boxed dinner.

Tables must be reserved in advance and can be reserved by calling Willis at (706) 312-7194.
