Softball tryouts

Ring donations
A fund has been set up at Greenbrier High School to help the Wolfpack baseball team pay for their Class AAAA state championship rings. To make a donation, send a check or money order to Greenbrier High School, 5114 Riverwood Parkway, Evans, GA 30809. Make checks payable to Greenbrier High School baseball, and mark them "ring fund."
Baseball tryouts
The Sonic Blast 13-and-under traveling baseball team will hold tryouts at 10 a.m. Aug. 11 at Riverside Park in Evans and at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 at Harrison Caver Park in Clearwater, S.C. Tryouts will be for the fall 2007 and spring 2008 seasons. Players cannot turn 14 before May 1, 2008. Football tryouts
Harlem High School football practices will begin at 4 p.m. today. Players should report to the Harlem field house for a helmet and bring proof of a physical. For more information, contact Jimmie Lewis at (706) 556-5980, ext. 214.
Softball tryouts
Evans High School softball tryouts will begin today starting at 9 a.m. and again at 5 p.m. Tryouts will continue Thursday and Friday at 5 p.m. Players should bring proof of a current physical and insurance in order to try out.
Golf clinics
Bartram Trail Golf Club will hold a Junior Golf Clinic on Aug. 6-9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Class size is limited to the first 20 paying children ages 6-18. Cost for the clinic is $150, which includes range balls, instruction, lunch, entry fee and prizes for a nine-hole tournament. Soccer openings
The AME United U13 boys soccer team is seeking field players and a goalkeeper for the fall 2007 season. Games will be played in the regional area. All interested players are welcome to practice with the team. For information, call coach Lopez at (706) 840-5726.
Golf tournament
The Apartment Association of Greater Augusta will hold the first annual AAGA Golf Tournament at 8 a.m. Aug. 10 at Forest Hills Golf Club. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Jud C.
