Web site facts are wrong, man says

A Martinez man called police Friday and said he found untrue statements about him on a Web site.

Between noon Thursday and 5 p.m. Friday, the man told police, a Thomson woman created the site,, which was dedicated to hating him. The man said the site contains several untrue statements about him, including that he sexually harasses women, physically abuses his daughter and has cheated on school tests in the past.

The man said the statements are false and worried that the untrue remarks could affect his career. The woman could not be reached.

Man stops theft of ATV from garage

A Grovetown man said he foiled burglars Saturday after catching them stealing his ATV.

Between 6 and 6:30 p.m., he walked into his open garage and found a man pushing his $1,300 ATV toward a vehicle parked in his driveway.

When he asked what was going on, the thief ran to the vehicle, which had two other men inside, and sped away.

Woman reports inappropriate photo

Police responded to an Evans home last week after a woman said she received an inappropriate photo of a child.

The woman told police that on July 14, she received a text message on her cell phone that contained a photo of what appeared to be the genitalia of a young boy.

The picture, from an unknown sender, also showed a grown man's hands holding the child's legs apart.

The photo was saved to the woman's phone as deputies called an investigator to the home. The case was turned over to the sheriff's office Criminal Investigation Division.
