With 'huge' mosquito problem, county has no program for spraying

There has been a huge mosquito problem around my apartment for the past two years. I was discussing this issue with my parents, who are Richmond County residents, and they stated that they see a mosquito fogging truck in their neighborhood quite often.

Curious as to why I have never seen one in Columbia County, I started to look and this is what I found: Q: What department is in charge of spraying for mosquitoes? A: The county does not currently have a program to spray for mosquitoes.

OK, maybe I am over estimating the effectiveness of the trucks that run around spraying in neighborhoods, but to have nothing in a county that has lake and pond areas all around? With West Nile and Malaria being a possible threat, why is nothing being done? Have there been any other concerns about this?
