Columbia County's Summertime on the Canal festival will be held 4-11 p.m. Friday, with an outdoor festival and indoor craft show at Savannah Rapids Pavilion, a rubber duck race at 8 p.m. and a concert at 9 p.m. Admission is free. Book signing
Joshilyn Jackson, an author who was a finalist in Columbia County's 2007 One Book, One Community program, will hold an author visit and book signing at 2:30 p.m. today at the Columbia County Library, in Evans.
School festival
The Columbia County Back to School Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans High School, with information on school calendars and bus schedules, health screenings and after-school and recreation registrations.
Alzheimer's seminar
Kathy Tuckey, the regional director of the Alzheimer's Association, will hold a free caregiver seminar, Oral Health and Care, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jud C. Hickey Adult Day Center, 1901 Central Ave., Augusta. For information, call (706) 731-9060.

The public is invited to nominate candidates for Columbia County Arts Inc. third annual Individual Artist award, given to a living Columbia County artist who has dedicated himself or herself to excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in Columbia County.
