Rec department delivered 'lesson in politics' with team assignments

Baseball provides a good lesson in politics. I would like to thank the Columbia County Recreation Department for a pretty good 12-year-old Dixie Youth Baseball program and an excellent lesson in political science.

When divisional alignments and coaching assignments are deliberately configured to include certain "travel ball" teams as an "all-star" team, other deserving kids are excluded. Their exclusion is not based on performance or attitude but solely on the uniform they wear in weekend tournaments.

Next year maybe they could spare me the non-baseball educational opportunities and allow coaches who are more interested in teaching baseball than they are in demonstrating good-ol'-boy politics.
